A day of fundraising events took place on Saturday, March 19th kicking off with a world record attempt.
Organised by Blackswan, Tynemouth Green Day celebrated St Patrick’s Day with an attempt to break the world record for the largest human shamrock on Tynemouth Longsands, which say 529 form a giant shamrock.
The record attempt was followed by 2.5km and 5km runs along the beach.
Named Moyra’s Green Runs in honour of Blackswan co-founder Karen Lee’s mum, the day raised funds for St Oswald’s Hospice, where Moyra receives care, and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
